Abstract

Hyper -immunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES) is a rare immunodeficiency disorder which appears early in life with recurrent staphylococcal and candida infections, pneumonias, lymphadenitis, and eczematous skin. Serum IgE concentrations are extremely high in patients with HIES (> 2000 IU/ml). Although rare, squamous cell carcinoma has been reported in HIES, perhaps due to chronic infection and irritation of the epidermis.
