The External Quality Audit at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) was held last April 4 and 5, 2019. The main goal is to ensure that the institution is committed to deliver quality services in the field of tropical infectious and dermatological diseases through research, health care, trainings, surveillance and production of vaccines and biologicals and to consistently meet the dynamic needs and expectations of customers. One of the positive observations came from the Department of Dermatology, stated as “The publication and contribution to enabling online journals on journal.pds.org.ph is commendable”. It has been observed that numerous journals from the institution remains inside the library and the auditors from the previous year suggested that journals like these shouldn’t be kept inside the library but should be readily available to the public. An initiative was called by the Philippine Dermatological Society in making sure the free and unrestricted availability of these scholarly material online hence the launching of the journal of the PDS online.
